Correspondence Study
Individuals living outside the greater New York City area may participate in The New Seminary training programs via correspondence study. While correspondence study is inherently challenging and requires a degree of independence and self-initiative, most corresponding students find their New Seminary experience to be richly rewarding.
Corresponding students receive audio recordings of the actual class sessions that are held in New York. Students are assigned a Dean to whom they submit their written assignments and from whom they receive feedback on their work. Their Dean is their support.
We have an active on-line presence, and our students may optionally participate in an on-line e-mail list, as well as study groups--in person where possible, but also through on-line ‘chat’ and group phone calls, as a way of integrating with their fellow students. We have a staff member who serves as Director of On-Line Communications, who helps students become a part of these on-line groups and supports them technically.
In order for the corresponding students to participate fully in the program, it is necessary for them to have regular access to a computer with Internet capabilities, and be familiar with the basics of its use, especially in knowing how to access websites, download files, and how to write and send documents via email.
