which resides with us and in us all

Interfaith Temple
Sunday, October 22, 2006

TOPIC: Principles of Haitian Spirituality, An Introduction (details below)
1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Followed by the Interfaith Temple Worship Service
led by second year students
4:00-5:00pm

New Location:
Children of Light Center
2672 Broadway at 102nd Street
New York City

ALL ARE WELCOME

The boundaries and barriers which separate us are learned thoughts which are becoming
less valid as improved communications introduce us to the ideas, customs and spiritual
depth of other cultures. We are at a point in history like no other where the walls are
crumbling and we are coming face to face with our fellow human beings. No longer does the
concept of us vs. them, you vs. me ring true.

At Interfaith Temple we
Embrace Diversity
Build Cross-Cultural Understanding
Encourage Spiritual Growth to Fulfillment

Our services are indeed a celebration of Spirit, regardless of the name by which you know
that Spirit...

YHWH, God, Goddess, Allah, Buddha-mind, Emanuel, Elohim...

With the desire to help build understanding across ideologies, we invite you to join us as we
explore the depth of spirit in religious practices from many cultures and religions.

====================
The Interfaith Temple will present seminary student Djaloki Dessables on
the Principles of Haitian Spirituality.

This will be a unique opportunity to learn about Vodou, facts about its history and practices,
myths and misconceptions surrounding the faith, and how it is evolving as a current
practice. Participants are invited to bring an object which will be blessed under the
auspices of Ayizan and Papa Loko, the archetypal Priestess and Priest in the Ayitian
pantheon. There will be ample space and time for questions, informal spontaneity and fun!
Simplicity and open mindedness are welcome.

In the coming months:

November 19 - Strega - The Old Religion
  with Rev. Marianne Riggiola

December 17 - Interfaith Music Festival for the Holidays
  an annual favorite

January 21 - the Feminine Face of God in the Judeo-Christian Religion,
  with Rev. Mother Lynn Walker
